Sardinia is well known for its blue water, jet-set lifestyle, and as a fantastic vacation destination. What it isn’t quite as well known for is its driving roads — and, for a few years now, the Poltu Quatu Classic Concours, which takes place at the heart of the island. What would be the perfect car to take to the event, we thought? Nothing screams Sardinia more than our Verde Pallido Ferrari F40, a colour that works so well against the island’s backdrop.
Unlike other concours such as the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, which are quite serious and where every little dent or scratch influences the jury’s opinion, this concours was, just like the vibe in Sardinia, much more relaxed and friendly. The classes were: La Dolce Vita, Peace & Love, Sex On The Beach, Ferrari Tribute To Le Mans 2023, Porsche 75th Anniversary, Supercar, Rally Queen, and Something Special. In addition to the class awards were several sponsor awards and of course the Best of Show Award, which went to the Ferrari 340 MM with Monza body, owned by the same gentleman Roberto Crippa for over 24 years.
Our F40 surely wouldn’t have won the originality award, with its fresh repaint in Verde Pallido. But it won a very deserved “Most Glamorous Car Award”, offered by the Milan menswear house Larusmiani. It was a pleasure to show the “Minty Forty” around and drive it on the Sardinian roads. The reactions of the people around are reason enough to drive that car.
