The house, in brief.

Schaltkulisse was founded in Munich in 2010 by Kevin Braun, on the conviction that the seven-figure end of the collector-car market deserved an editorial register rather than an auction register — a house that talks about cars the way museum catalogues talk about paintings, not the way classifieds talk about commodities.

Sixteen years on, the rule has stayed the same. Two showrooms (Munich since 2010, Miami since 2023), a single journal, a curated workshop network, and a refusal to grow beyond what we can speak about with first-hand knowledge. We turn down more cars than we accept. The collection on the floor at any time is twelve to twenty pieces; the archive of cars we have placed since 2010 runs to three figures.

The team behind the work is nine people across Munich, Miami, and the engineering bench. The network around it is wider — the restorers, the institutions, the concours, the people who lend their time when a question is technical enough that it warrants the right voice. What follows on this site is meant to credential the work, not to sell it. The selling, when it happens, happens in the showroom.
