By the early 2020s a third of the cars Schaltkulisse handled were going to American collectors, and a third of the team's trips were to American auctions. A second house in the United States started to look less like an expansion and more like a correction.
Miami was chosen for the climate (storage costs less in a city without snow), the geography (East Coast, halfway between the European auction circuit and the American collector base), and the light (the same reason that brought us to Taufkirchen in 2018).
The Miami house opened at the end of 2023, in the Magic City district, carrying the same design language as Munich — a bridge between the European auction circuit and the American collector base. Its courtyard is where the American edition of Caffeine Injection now runs at dawn — earlier than the Munich version because of the Florida heat.
Same routines. Different light.
Today the Miami house holds about a third of the live collection, runs the American consignment desk, and hosts the Miami edition of Caffeine Injection from October to May (the months Florida is bearable outdoors before sunrise).
