The racing Porsche 993 GT2 differed visually from the road legal version in its bolt-on fender flares (40mm at the front and 30mm at the rear), as well as through its aerodynamic parts with large air inlets for more brake cooling, similar to the RS. A larger adjustable rear wing was also mounted on the engine lid. The suspension was fitted with spherical joints instead of rubber bushings. The air cooled six-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine has 450 bhp in its standard configuration, and up to 550bhp with the conversion kit including larger KKK turbochargers at a cost of DM 54 500. Chassis #393107 was delivered new in January 1996 to Mr Jean-Francois Veroux, resident in Paris. A final confirmation letter from Porsche in 1996 documents some pre-delivery work and checks carried out by the factory. Very soon after, the car had its first appearance: at the 4 Hours of Monza in March 1996. Some appearances later, chassis #393107 took part in the GTR Series, and Italien GT Championship 1998. It gained 3rd Place overall at the 4 Hours of Paul Ricard (Le Castellet), and 1st Place overall at the Misano 6 Hours. Several races later, the 1998 season completed with great success, the car was sold Rugero Grassi in 1999. He showcased it at the Italian Porsche Club Races until 2000. Sold on to Mr. Caligaris, also resident in Italy, the car retired in the early 2000s. In 2015, it was sold to a well known collector and ambitious racing driver in Germany, who decided to preserve the car in its 1998 Misano-winning livery. At the same time, the well known Porsche specialist Roytmayer was commissioned to overhaul the mechanics, and some body work, with money no object. With demonstrated renovation costs of more than €70 000, this Porsche 993 GT2 race car is ready, and eligible, for numerous events around the globe. At the same time, it is a promising investment as race cars only recently have gained higher interest. This is due to growing restrictions on the road and popular racing series such as Global Endurance Legends. Take a good look at this important Porsche!
