About this car

991 GT2 RS

Officially launched at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2017, the GT2RS marked the most powerful 911 production car ever made. Powered by a 3.8 L twin-turbocharged flat-6 developping 691 hp, this horse from Zuffenhausen was capable of achieving a top speed of 340 km/h and a 0 to 100 time of 2.7 seconds. straight line performance backed up by handling thanks to the relatively light weight of the car. Indeed, Porsche’s GT department went out of their way to make the German racer as light as possible. Every conceivable exotic material was used in the race towards weight reduction: the roof was made out of magnesium, several body panels were fabricated from carbon fiber, a titanium exhaust was fitted and the „normal“ 991 windows were dropped in favour of polycarbonate ones. In total, the GT2RS weighted a mere 1’470 kg wet. As if this was not enough, Porsche could bring the weight down by a further 30 kg if the client opted for the expensive Weissach package option, which included a set of magnesium wheels and titanium roll cage. Porsche conceived the GT2RS for the track with daily usability in mind, along the lines of „A race car for the road“. This made it an easy car to live with as well as an extremely agile weapon around tight corners , so much so that it beat the record for production lap time around the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a staggering time of 6:47.3. Being at the top of the food chain, it went on to beat further production lap times, including The Bend Motorsport Park in 2018, Road Atlanta, Road America and finally Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in 2019. Our example was delivered new in February of 2018 to a Piech family member, who are notorious for their car collections including some of Porsche’s finest vehicles. The car is fitted with the 30’000 Euro Weissach Package and finished in the combination of GT-Silver Metallic M7Z over a black Alcantara and Leather interior. In total, less than 12’200 km have been covered. Note that the GT2RS was delivered as standard with Porsche’s carbon composite brakes for additional stopping power. Cherry on the cake: this track weapon can be enjoyed in all peace of mind as it is still covered by Porsche’s Approved Warranty. Even four years later, rare are the cars that can hold a candle to the GT2RS’s performance. It is a great addition to any serious car collection as well as an choice for some fun on the track.
